What we have organised for you

Enjoy tango in France’s second largest city

In Lyon, we will join MiLYONga, an initiative of Lyon tango schools and societies joining forces to offer a full weekend of tango with (almost) non stop milongas. Dance with the locals, try different places and elegant halls, and inspiring DJs. We have also organised tango lessons for the group only – expect real fun sessions.

Discover 2000-year old Lugdunum (Lyon) and its fascinating heritage

We will discover the enchanting city of UNESCO World Heritage Lyon, the ex-capital of the Gauls, where history and modernity blend seamlessly. We will start with a stroll through the charming cobblestone streets of Vieux Lyon and unearth Hidden Passages – a network of out of sight passageways connecting streets and courtyards, architectural gems known as las Traboules. We will also discover secret murals including the captivating Mur des Canuts, chat with Guignol the puppet, and explore the vibrant arts scene, from the national museum Confluences to the birthplace of cinema at the Musée des frères Lumière, where the first film in history was recorded.

Later on during our trip we will travel back in time with a visit to the stunning Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. To reconnect with nature we will also soak in the lively atmosphere of Parc de la Tête d’Or, Lyon’s famous park.

Last – but not least – we will try the Gastronomy. Lyon is often hailed as the gastronomic capital of France, boasting unique local specialties like quenelles, andouillette, and pralines. We will enjoy authentic Lyonnaise cuisine in a traditional ‘bouchon’.

Escape to the “Venice of the Alps”: Annecy

We will escape to the stunning city of Annecy, a place of breathtaking natural beauty. Nestled beside the crystal-clear waters of Lake Annecy, we will enjoy gentle hiking along the scenic trail that encircles the lake and experience panoramic views of the Alps’ surrounding mountains. If time allows we will take a peak at the Jardins de l’Europe, beautifully landscaped gardens situated along the lake’s edge.

After our hike, we will explore with the group the picturesque old town and discover its charming canals, inviting cafes, markets, and historical buildings including the Palais de l’Isle and the iconic Château d’Annecy. We will then try the local delicacy, the tartiflette.

Discover Pérouges, a true village gem dating from the 15th century

We will step into a medieval fairytale in the enchanting village of Pérouges. This walled town, known for its beautifully preserved architecture and cobblestone streets, will invite us to explore its historic charm.

We will stroll past half-timbered houses, browse artisan shops, and savour the local specialty, the galette de Pérouges. We will immerse ourselves in the town’s rich history by visiting the ancient Church of Saint-George and the Place du Tilleul, shaded by centuries-old trees and surrounded by quaint cafes and shops. We will complete our visit with the Mur des Pelerins, the “Pilgrims’ Wall,” a historical remnant that tells the story of the village’s past.

Pérouges is sure to captivate your heart!

Connect with Nature

Step outside the urban bustle and discover the pristine beauty of nature in the Alps region around Annecy. Visiting the Alps is a breathtaking experience, where stunning mountain landscapes meet the serene beauty of Lake Annecy. You will be captivated by the views of the nearby peaks and lush greenery. A stroll along the lake’s shores offers picturesque vistas, with crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains. The blend of Alpine charm and tranquil water makes for an unforgettable getaway in this idyllic region of France.

And most importantly: create connections

This tango holiday is not just about dance and discoveries; it’s about creating connections with other fellow dancers from the group and at the local milongas, share a laugh (or ten), and making new friends.

So embrace the extraordinary with Lyon Tango Escape. Whether you are looking for dancing, adventure, relaxation, or a little bit of all of it, our carefully curated itinerary promises an experience that will ignite your love for the Rhone region and leave you with unforgettable memories.
